Source: the Grafana pricing page and the Grafana IRM documentation, checked in October 2026. The 19 USD platform fee belongs to the whole Grafana Cloud Pro account, so a team that already pays it for metrics and logs adds IRM users without paying it a second time. Metrics, logs and traces are billed by usage on the same invoice and are not part of the numbers below.
Who counts as an active IRM user?
This is the line that moves the bill. Grafana counts a person as an active IRM user in a month when they do any of the following:
- sit on an on-call schedule or in an escalation chain,
- receive a page,
- change an alert group or the IRM configuration,
- create or edit an incident.
Engineers on the rotation are the obvious ones. The less obvious ones are the support lead who declares an incident, the engineering manager who edits the summary, and the developer pulled in once to acknowledge an alert group. Each of them is a billable user for that month. Reading an incident is not on that list. Budget for the busiest month you expect, not the average one: a major outage that draws in 15 extra people adds 300 USD to that month's bill at list price.
Is phone and SMS paging included?
Yes. Grafana does not charge extra for SMS and phone call notifications in Cloud IRM, and reserves the right to throttle them when volume is abnormally high. That is a real advantage over tools that sell message allowances. It applies to the hosted product only.
What happened to Grafana OnCall pricing?
Grafana OnCall used to be a free open source project plus a hosted version. Grafana put OnCall OSS into maintenance mode on March 11, 2025 and archived the repository on March 24, 2026. On the same day the Cloud Connection that self-hosted installs used for phone, SMS and mobile push was switched off. So a self-hosted OnCall still costs nothing, and it can still post to Slack and send email, but it cannot ring a phone through Grafana. If you search for Grafana OnCall pricing today, the answer is the IRM price list above. Teams that do not want to move to Grafana Cloud compare a hosted pager instead, and our Grafana OnCall alternative page walks through that switch.
What does Grafana IRM cost for 5, 15 and 40 users?
Monthly cost at list price before volume discounts. Every user is active every month. Grafana IRM has no native customer status page; it publishes updates through an Atlassian Statuspage integration, so the second and third rows add a Statuspage plan at Atlassian's list price (Startup 99 USD, Business 399 USD a month).
| Setup | 5 active users | 15 active users | 40 active users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grafana IRM Free | Not available above 3 | Not available | Not available |
| Grafana IRM Pro (19 USD fee covers 3 users) | 59 USD | 259 USD | 759 USD |
| Grafana IRM Pro plus Statuspage Startup | 158 USD | 358 USD | 858 USD |
| Grafana IRM Pro plus Statuspage Business | 458 USD | 658 USD | 1,158 USD |
| Grafana IRM Enterprise | From about 2,083 USD (25,000 USD yearly minimum) | Same minimum | Same minimum |
| IncidentBot Starter (1 public status page included) | 120 USD | 360 USD | 960 USD |
| IncidentBot Team (3 public or private pages, unlimited SMS and voice) | 245 USD | 735 USD | 1,960 USD |
Read it honestly. For paging alone, Grafana IRM Pro is cheaper than IncidentBot at every size. With a public status page added, the two are level at 15 users (358 against 360 USD), IncidentBot Starter is cheaper at 5 and Grafana plus Statuspage is cheaper at 40. Private status pages change the picture: Atlassian sells them on a separate price list from 79 to 1,499 USD a month (see Statuspage pricing), and IncidentBot includes three public or private pages in Team.
What the Enterprise minimum means for a small team
Grafana lists a minimum commit of 25,000 USD a year for Enterprise. For a company already spending that much on metrics and logs, IRM seats are close to a rounding error and Enterprise is the natural home. For a 15 person team that only wants on-call from Grafana, Enterprise makes no sense, and Pro is the plan to price. Features that often sit behind enterprise contracts elsewhere (SAML, audit trails, premium support) are worth asking about before you assume Pro covers them.
Is Grafana IRM cheaper than PagerDuty?
Yes, at list price. Per user per month, checked on each vendor's site in September and October 2026:
| Tool | Entry paid price | Phone and SMS | Status page | How users are counted |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grafana Cloud IRM | 20 USD per active user plus 19 USD platform fee | No extra charge, throttled if abnormal | Through Atlassian Statuspage, billed by Atlassian | Active in the month |
| PagerDuty | 21 USD annual, 25 monthly (Professional) | Included, varies by plan | Sold separately | Licensed users |
| incident.io | 15 USD annual plus 10 USD on-call add-on (Team) | Included with on-call | 1 public page on the free plan and up | Licensed users |
| Datadog On-Call | 20 USD annual, 24 monthly, 29 on demand | Included | Unlimited with Incident Management seats (30 USD annual) | Peak seats in the month |
| IncidentBot | 24 USD annual, 49 monthly (Starter) | 100 per user on Starter, unlimited on Team (fair use) | 1 public page on Starter, 3 public or private on Team | Responder seats, read-only stakeholders free |
Grafana IRM and Datadog On-Call sit at the same 20 USD and share the same logic: the pager is cheap when you already pay the vendor for observability. The differences are in how seats are counted and what an overage month costs, which the Datadog On-Call pricing page covers. PagerDuty costs a little more per seat and much more once add-ons are in; see PagerDuty pricing. incident.io splits incident response and on-call into two line items, explained on the incident.io pricing page.
Grafana IRM vs IncidentBot for a 15 person team with a status page
A 15 person team that pages every engineer and posts customer updates pays 259 USD a month for Grafana IRM Pro and 99 USD for Statuspage Startup, 358 USD in total across two vendors. On IncidentBot Starter the same team pays 360 USD a month billed annually, with the public status page, Slack incident channels and 100 SMS and voice notifications per user in one product. If the team needs a private status page for enterprise customers, the Grafana route adds Atlassian's private page plan from 79 USD, and IncidentBot Team at 735 USD includes private pages and unlimited SMS and voice. Neither is the right answer for everyone. Teams that live in Grafana dashboards all day usually stay with IRM. Teams with monitoring spread over Grafana, CloudWatch and Sentry tend to want a pager that is not tied to one of them, and IncidentBot takes Grafana and Alertmanager alerts by webhook without changes on the Grafana side.
What to check before you budget for Grafana IRM
- Count active users in your worst month of the last year: everyone on a schedule or escalation chain, everyone paged and everyone who created or edited an incident.
- Check whether you already pay the 19 USD Grafana Cloud Pro fee. If not, add it.
- Decide where customer updates go. If the answer is a status page, add the Atlassian Statuspage plan you need, public or private.
- Ask what "throttled when abnormal" means for SMS and voice if you have a service that flaps.
- If you still run OnCall OSS, plan the migration: schedules, escalation chains and integrations have to be recreated in Grafana Cloud or in another pager.
- Keep one check outside the stack that pages you. Synthetic uptime checks from several regions catch the outage where the monitoring platform itself is down, and they can alert any pager by webhook.
How much does Grafana IRM cost?
Grafana Cloud IRM costs 20 USD per active IRM user per month on Pro, plus a 19 USD Grafana Cloud Pro platform fee that includes the first 3 active users. The free tier covers up to 3 active IRM users a month, and Enterprise has a 25,000 USD yearly minimum commit. Checked on grafana.com in October 2026.
Is Grafana IRM free?
Grafana IRM is free for up to 3 active IRM users per month as part of the Grafana Cloud free tier, with community support. A fourth active user in a month moves the account to Pro pricing at 20 USD per active user plus the 19 USD platform fee.
Is Grafana OnCall still free?
The open source Grafana OnCall code is still free to run, but Grafana archived the project on March 24, 2026 and switched off the cloud connection that delivered phone, SMS and push notifications to self-hosted installs. For paging that rings a phone, Grafana now sells Cloud IRM.
What is an active IRM user in Grafana?
An active IRM user is anyone who, in a given month, is on an on-call schedule or escalation chain, receives a page, changes an alert group or IRM configuration, or creates or edits an incident. Viewing an incident is not on Grafana's list.
Does Grafana IRM include a status page?
No. Grafana IRM publishes customer updates through an integration with Atlassian Statuspage, which is bought and billed separately. IncidentBot includes one public status page on Starter, three public or private pages on Team and unlimited pages on Business.
